Why waterproofing is the whole job
A tiled shower doesn't fail at the tile. It fails behind it. Water gets through grout — that's normal, grout isn't waterproof — so what stops it is the membrane and the drain underneath.
We build showers on the Schluter Kerdi system with an integrated bonded-flange drain, so the waterproofing is continuous from the wall to the drain with nothing to work loose. We also do our own floor prep, leveling, and mud work, which means the substrate is flat and pitched properly before a single tile goes down.
None of this is visible when we're finished. It's the difference between a shower that lasts twenty years and one that gets torn out in six.

Tile is only as flat as what's under it. We do our own floor prep, self-leveling, and traditional mud beds — including the floors other contractors would rather not deal with.
